Silver distater, 15.47 g., 27 mm.
Obv. Helmeted head of Athena right, the helmet decorated with Skylla shown with hand raised and moving forward, her fish tail extended behind, small figure of a griffin on the helmet’s neck guard.
Rev.  ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ, bull butting  right, fish right in exergue.
SNG ANS 958; Dewing 421.
NGC graded XF, strike 4/5, surface 4/5, NGC # 4165013-005, scarce variety with the griffin on the neck guard.
Formerly in a German Private Collection, acquired from Gorny & Mosch 22, 1982, 23. The collector was a descendant of a Berlin surgeon who served as the personal physician of Prince Charles of Prussia and before his death in 1895 assembled a large collection of ancient coins (“Generations Collection”).
