Silver obol, 0.46 g, 9 mm, minted at Susa, ca. 325-320 BC
Obv. Obv. Head of young Herakles right in lion skin headdress.
Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle and scepter, XMP control monogram in left field, W control under throne, and EK? controls in exergue.
Price unlisted, but cf Price 3829-3830 for tetradrachm and drachm denominations with similar controls, for which this may well be the obol counterpart.
NGC graded CHOICE XF, Strike 4/5, Surface 3/5, “unlisted in M. Price,” a very interesting piece worthy of further research.
