Silver “NEW STYLE” Tetradrachm, 16.91 g., 28 mm., ca. 115/4 BC, under magistrates Metrodoros, Demosthe(nes), and Aristode(s), with control symbol grapes.
Obv. Helmeted head of Athena right, within dotted border.
Rev. A-ӨE, owl standing right, head facing, MHTPOΔΩPOΣ/ APIΣTOΔH, ΔHMOΣΘE (magistrates’ names in fields), retrograde Z on amphora, all within wreath.
Thompson 637 var (an unlisted combination of magistrates using the same obverse die as 637).
NGC graded CHOICE AU, Strike 4/5, Surface 3/5, a rare variety unpublished in Thompson, and extremely rare with only 3 specimens in market records since ca. 1998.
