NGC graded XF, Strike 4/5, Surface 2/5, “brushed”, a pleasing specimen of the very first issue of his reign at the mint of Lugdunum, with a detailed and expressive portrait of the emperor. The reverse type honors Augustus, presenting him as deified, flanked by two stars, the heavenly bodies recalling the astral iconography of the comet associated with the imagery of the deified Julius Caesar.
