Electrum aspron trachy (scyphate), 4.49 g, 30 mm.
Obv. Virgin Mary enthroned, holding bust of infant Christ, MP-ΘV (mother of God) in fields. Rev. ICAAKIOC ΔЄC, Archangel Michael, standing, crowning figure of the emperor, Θ between their heads, X/AP/X/M in lower right field.
Sear, 2002.
NGC graded MINT STATE, Strike 4/5, Surface 3/5, “marks”, an interesting specimen with a distinct silver appearance, clearly reflecting Sear’s statement: “The debasement of the electrum trachy began during this reign, and some specimens are so pale as to have a silver appearance”.
