Silver Tetradrachm, 16.92 g, 33 mm. Posthumous issue of an uncertain Bithynian mint, ca. late 250s BC.
Obv. Head of deified Alexander the Great right, with the horn of Ammon, H below neck truncation.
Rev. Athena enthroned left, holding Nike crowning Lysimachus’ name, ME control monogram in exterior left field, ΠA control monogram in exergue.
Cf. Marinescu, Cius, issues V and VI, which use the same obverse die (obverse B) coupled to reverses with different controls. This coin should be placed between Marinescu issue IV and V as it shares the same exergue control monogram with issue V and the obverse die appears to be in a less worn state.
NGC graded CHOICE AU STAR, Strike 4/5, Surface 4/5, FINE STYLE, “die shift”, struck on a very broad planchet with light golden iridescent highlights, seemingly unique and unpublished.
