Cnaeus Domitius Ahenobarbus was from a distinguished Roman political family. He may have been among the conspirators who murdered Julius Caesar, but that is not clear. After the murder he fought alongside Brutus, commanding a sizable naval contingent with which he won a great naval victory against the Second Triumvirate in 42 BC.
