Silver Shekel, 4.23 g, 25 mm. Issue struck in the last five year of Christ’s life, sometime between Year 154 (AD 28/29) and Crucifixion year 158 (AD 32/33).
Obv. Laureate head of Melkart right, within dotted border. Rev. TYPOY IEPAΣ KAI AΣYΛOY, eagle standing left on prow, PNH? (unclear date) above club in left field, KP above control monogram in right field, uncertain Phoenician letter between legs.

NGC graded XF, Strike 3/5, Surface 5/5, “year uncertain, c. AD20s.”

This remarkable coin was struck during the last five years of Christ’s life. The date is hastily re-engraved on a repurposed die, but as in the coin above, the obverse die allows for a dating to years to years 154-158 when it was used: year 154 (AD 28/9) – Cohen 554; year 155 (AD 29/30) – Cohen 556; year 156 (AD 30/31) – Cohen 558; year 158 (AD 32/33) – Cohen 576.
