Silver Cistophorus, 12.63 g, 29 mm. Issue dated to civic year 21 (114/3 BC)
Obv. Cista mystica within ivy wreath. Rev. Snakes around bow case, grain stalk above, EΦE in left field, KA above torch in right field.
Kleiner, Ephesus, 26; SNG Copenhagen 322 (same dies); Carbone, Hidden Power, XXXIV, 1 (O77/R140).
Ex Salton Family Collection, likely acquired sometime in the 1950s–1960s when Mr. Salton owned a numismatic dealership in New York.
VF, slightly double struck, gray cabinet patina; apparently a very rare date, Carbone lists only two specimens for year 21 and there no other pieces in the market over the last 25 years.
