Gold Cob 2 Escudo, 1714, no assayer (Arce), 6.72 g, 23 mm. Issue of Bogotá mint.
Sedwick, Arce’s Doubloons, no. 156 (C7/P6ab), same dies, dated 1714; Fr–4a; KM14.2; Calicó Type 242 (for type).
NGC MS 65. Although the date of 1714 is not preserved on this specimen, the dies are identical to Sedwick’s Arce’s Doubloons, no. 156 where the date of 1714 can be seen. It is an exceptionally high grade coin in the general 1700-1714 category, with only eight additional specimens in MS 65, and only one rated higher in MS 66.
