$6,200.00

20763. KINGDOM OF SPAIN, VICEROYALTY OF PERU (1542-1824), COLOMBIA. FERDINAND VI, 1746-1756.
Gold 2 Cob Escudo, assayer not visible (S to left), mintmark F.S to right (ca. 1750), 6.73 g. Issue of Bogotá mint.
KM 25.
Ex Sedwick, Treasure Auction 33, 5/3/2023, lot 57.
MS63 NGC, second highest grade from 19 pieces in the NGC census.

The abbreviation of the mint name, ·F·[S], is “Santa Fé de Bogotá,” as Bogotá was known to the Spanish during that period. It is difficult to find the mint name preserved on a coin, here the F is crystal clear, and the upper part of the S is visible as well.
