Silver Cistophorus, 9.84 g, 29 mm. Issue of Smyrna, after AD 128.
Obv. HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS P P, head of Hadrian right. Rev. COS III, Cybele enthroned left, holding patera and a leaning on a tympanum, lion at her feet.
Metcalf, The Cistophori of Hadrian, series 33, nos. 161-174, the majority being overstruck on Augustan cistophori, but cf 165 and 168 that are overstruck on cistophori of Antony.
NGC graded VF, Strike 4/5, Surface 3/5, “overstruck,” very attractive, with traces of the Antony undertype visible, including part of the original legend ..IMP COS.. on the reverse in front of Cybele.
