19448. BITHYNIA. HERACLEA PONTICA. CIVIC ISSUE IN THE NAME AND TYPES OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT, LATE 3rd CENTURY BC.
Silver Tetradrachm of Alexander type, 16.93 g, 30 mm. Issue of ca. 200–190 BC.
Obv. Head of young Heracles right in lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle and scepter, ΠA in left field, club in exergue.
Price 1293; Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France R 4033 (same dies).
NGC graded CHOICE XF, Strike 4/5, surface 3/5, “overstruck.”

An extremely rare emission, with only one specimen in market records and two listed in the Pella database as being in museums: Bibliothèque nationale de France and National Numismatic Collection, De Nederlandsche Bank, Amsterdam. This is seemingly the fourth known specimen.
