Silver Tetradrachm of Lysimachus type, 16.64 g, 32 mm. Issue of ca. late 250s BC.
Obv. Head of deified Alexander the Great right, with the horn of Ammon, HM monogram below neck truncation. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑXΟΥ, Athena enthroned left, holding Nike crowning Lysimachus’ name, HM monogram in outer left field, HΔ monogram in exergue.

NGC CHOICE VF Strike 5/5, Surface 3/5, “flan flaw,” publican history noted on label, extremely rare variety with the same control monogram on the obverse and reverse, published and illustrated in Marinescu’s die study of Cius’ Lysimachi.
This coin employs an obverse die used at Cius, although the typology of the reverse is somewhat different. Marinescu categorized several such coins being from as “unknown Bithynian mint”; for issue I there are four specimens from two die pairs, including this piece which is illustrated.
