Silver Tetradrachm, 16.78 g, 29 mm. Early posthumous issue of an unknown mint, perhaps Cyzicus, ca. 260-250 BC.
Obv. Head of deified Alexander the Great right, with the horn of Ammon. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΛΥΣIMAXOΥ, Athena enthroned left, holding Nike crowning Lysimachus’ name, EKT control monogram in left field.
Thompson -; Müller 528 (Uncertain Asia Minor); Mektepini Hoard 163 (as Cyzicus).
Near EF, some toning, and traces of encrustation, a rare variety with some 12 specimens in CoinArchives from the last 25+ years and another six on Seyrig’s photo file card (see above) which include specimens from Paris and pieces in the ANS (inv. 1944.100.81731-81735, all from E.T. Newell’s collection).
